Collagen – My Skincare Game Changer

Ok girls. I’ve been sharing it like crazy on SnapChat, but I can’t tell you enough how obsessed I am with Collagen! It’s honestly one of the healthiest ways to get plenty of protein and healthy skin + hair without buying a bunch of crazy products.

I’ve been adding Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides to my coffee, and anything else I can think of like water, yogurt, smoothies, etc., and I freaking love it! It doesn’t taste like anything and totally dissolves so you don’t end up with nasty goop at the bottom of your cup.

I’ve tried tons of other brands, but my sister turned me onto Vital and it’s just the best.

Why It’s Your New Best Friend

Collagen makes up 70% of the protein in your skin and will actually help keep your face looking fresh and reduce wrinkles. Find me one person who doesn’t want that!

Changes to your skin are for sure the most noticeable sign of aging. You can keep your body fit, dye your hair and find awesome make-up products, but under all that, your skin shows your age. Don’t get me wrong, I love make-up, but nothing is more beautiful than feeling confident in your own bare skin.

Lots of women buy lotions that have collagen or even go as far as to get collagen injections to look younger. Yikes! Besides being super expensive, those are just temporary fixes and only really help on the surface. I’m all about avoiding the needle and taking a healthier route from the inside out.

Here’s What It Does & Why You Should Get on the Collagen Train

  • Promotes younger looking skin
  • Improves skin moisture level
  • Improves skin smoothness by reducing the number of micro-relief furrows;
  • Improves the signs of deep wrinkles
  • Improves skin suppleness

Bottom line, if you get the right amount of collagen each day (10-20g) your skin can actually start looking younger. You can find it in foods like fish, leafy greens and eggs, but it’s hard to get enough without adding on tons of excess calories which makes Vital great.

I’ve also started using their Pasure-Raised, Grass-Fed Collagen Whey and the Collagen Beauty Greens and I’ve noticed a HUGE change in my skin and hair. My hair guru literally called me “Repunzal” when I walked in this week because it’s grown so much in the last 4 weeks!hair

You guys know I’ve tried about a bizzillion (yep, that’s a number) different proteins, but they usually have too many ingredients, fake sugars or other annoying things happening. This stuff’s legit. I just made some Coconut Blueberry Pancakes with the plain whey protein this weekend and they were awesome. Not too fluffy, not too flat. Juuuuust right! Get the recipe HERE.

Hi Katie,

I started using the Kura protein powder that you recommended a while ago, and I absolutely love it. Is there a reason you’re shifting away from it and towards the Vital products? Or do you still like Kura?

Thanks!
Bev

Hi Katie,

Do you use all 4 of these products on the same day? I did purchase the collagen peptides and I’m following the label of 1-2 scoops 1-2 times a day. Is there such a thing as too much of a good thing? It’s too early for me to see a difference as I just started this past Friday – but I’m looking forward to seeing some healthy changes!

Just bought the vital proteins collagen peptides and I am so excited! I tried it in a smoothie from Kitchfix and was super impressed. Any additional tips on how to incorporate this into someone’s diet would be great!

Hi Katie! What is the difference between the blue container, the white, the green…etc? Which one do you suggest for “first timers”? 😀

Thanks!!

How much do you put in your coffee? I use nespresso too. Do you just stir it in? How much do you take total in a day? I just got mine and can’t wait to use it.

HI!
I was wondering if you could share your morning coffee recipe! I remember seeing it on snap chat a while back but I didn’t write it down!

It’s amazing how the collagen peptides dissolves in coffee with no added taste. AWESOME recommendation, Katie! I bought the smaller tub to see if I’d like it but I might have to order it on a subscription basis from Amazon.

I have been using the Kura Protein Powder and really like it, but I am interested in trying collagen. Just to be clear, the Collagen Beauty Greens is just a green juice powder, correct? I just starting throwing in some green powder into my protein shakes…but if this can replace my current green powder, I would love to give it a try.
