Healthy 1 Day Detox | Refresh & Reset Your Body
I used to do 3-day juice cleanses once or twice a year, but lately I've realized that it's too much. You end up putting your body through stress it really doesn't need, so now I am all about a Healthy 1 (or 2) day detox. Just enough time to be beneficial without going crazy. No one likes a hangry girl and TeamLSF is all about living a healthy AND HAPPY life, ya know!
Detoxing is NOT about losing weight. It's about giving your body a break. A chance to rest and recover. I'm always telling you girls how important it is to listen to your body and take rest days from your workouts, but the same goes for your gut. We are constantly bombarding it and making it work super hard for us so it's good to give it a little R&R.
Especially this time of year with holiday parties and indulging more than usual, doing a 1-day detox post-celebration is a great way to get back on track.
I also always do this when I get back from a vacation and definitely recommend it before starting the LSF Hot Body Meal Plan. Make sure you drink plenty of water all day long! Try for 3 full water bottles (about 3L). Your body needs water in order to flush out all the toxins and stay hydrated.
M1–Grateful Greens Pressed Juice
Find a local juice bar and have them whip this up for you. It's the perfect way to flush all the junk out of your body.
- Spinach Leafy greens are key for any good detox. Chlorella in them helps increase oxygen in the blood and they help your bodies natural PH to avoid infections.
- Dandelion Yep, that weed in your yard aids in digestion, helps reduce inflammation, is a major antioxidant and even acts as a natural diuretic.
- Cucumber Simple, but mighty. It is an anti-inflammatory and it's high water content helps flush out toxins and keep you hydrated.
- Parsley Helps eliminate salt, reduces build up of any toxins in the kidneys and also acts as a diuretic.
- Pear Number one purpose here is to add some sweetness, but it also is high in fiber, antioxidants and vitamin C
**I like to add matcha for energy and it's natural detoxing properties and chia seeds for protein and to aid in digestion.
M2 –Liver Cleanse Smoothie
- 1/2 cup frozen pineappleNatural diuretic, high fiber and holy vitamins and antioxidants…there's a ton!
- 1/4 cup dandelion leafs, choppedSee above
- 1/2 inch cube of fresh gingerStimulates digestion, circulation and helps cleanse toxins.
- 1 cup spinachSee above
- 3/4 cup coconut milkHealthy medium chain fatty acids are the best at detoxing the body of toxins.
M3 – Simply Magic Smoothie
- 1/2 cup pineappleNatural diuretic, high fiber and holy vitamins and antioxidants…there's a ton!
- 1/2 bananaLoaded with essential vitamins and minerals, plus a great energy booster.
- 2 pitted datesIncreases digestion, reduces inflammation, decreases bloating.
- Vanilla protein of choiceYou need that protein boo
- 3/4 cup coconut milkHealthy medium chain fatty acids are the best at detoxing the body of toxins.
- 1 scoop blue magicSUPERpowerful antioxidant
- 1/2 inch chunk of fresh gingerStimulates digestion, circulation and helps cleanse toxin
M4 –Belly Soothing Soup
- 2 cups butternut squash, peeled and cut in cubes
- 4 carrots, peeled and roughly chopped
- 2 parsnips, peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 onion, peeled and cut in quarters
- 3-4 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- ¼ tsp sea salt
- 4 cups bone broth or low sodium vegetable broth
- ¬Ω inch chunk of ginger, peeled and grated
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- Fresh pinch of parsley, pumpkin seeds & 1 tbsp Greek yogurt or coconut cream to garnish
Boil everything together in a large pot until vegetables are tender. Once you can easily poke veggies with a fork, turn off head and carefully transfer to a blender. Blend until smooth, serve and enjoy!
