Post-Holiday Detox

Holiday detox. 'Twas the week before Christmas in high holiday season, filled with booze and sugary treats for any reason…

If you're anything like me, you've been enjoying this holiday season in full force! And, even when I am making good decisions, I'm definitely indulging more than I usually would! Sometimes I feel like Buddy the Elf but instead of candy, candy cane, candy corn, and syrup as my four-major food groups, it's more like cookies, bread, wine, and well, more wine.?

So, as I look ahead past the holiday party season to 2018, I have a few tips I wanted to share to detoxall the sugar! While it may sound super intimidating to cut out sugar, it's really not complicated… just follow these simple tips and you'll be ready to kick 2018's butt like never before!

5 Tips for Post-Holiday Detox

Support Your System

Our bodies crave nutrients, not calories, and sometimes even our best efforts to eat healthy can't support our systems the way they need to be. Enter: the best vitamin I've found, Vibrance Women's Multivitamin plus Stress Support.

What's so great about it? I'm glad you asked!

  • It's made from REAL foods, not synthetic junk that is in so, so many vitamins on the shelves these days. Yuck!
  • It has stress support in its formula (a combo of B-vitamins and magnesium), which is crucial when detoxing from sugar.
  • It supports your metabolism!
  • A no-brainer way to get the essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that our bodies need so desperately.
  • It promotes gut health with awesome strands of probioticsandprebiotics. If you don't know by now, a healthy gut is so key to a healthy mind AND body!

I have been taking these for a while now and I can tell you, I've never felt better. You girls know that I work hard to treat my body right, and Vibrance Women's Multivitamin plus Stress Supportreally helps me ensure that I'm treating my body the best I can. I know these vitamins help me feel my best, and I want you to have a jump start on detoxing from sugar and feelingyourbest, too!

Like Ripping Off a Band-Aid

Please, please don't fall into the trap of trying to replace your sugary habit with a fake substitute. You've got two options: reduce it, or just straight out eliminate cold turkey. I swear, it's less painful in the long-run (not to mention better for your body!) to not even dabble with the fake stuff.

If you're looking for something sweet to fill your craving while cutting back on treats, seriously check out one of my favorite go-to treats: Vegan Chocolate Pudding. It's packed with good fats and nutrients and will help scratch your sweet-itch while still fueling your body. Which leads me to tip number three…

Fat is Your Friend

Up your intake of healthy fats and protein when you start to crave a sweet treat. I'd recommend diving into week three of the Hot Body Meal Plan: it's my favorite one because it's jam-packed with protein and healthy fats, to help get your body back on track and curb those cravings.

The Vegan Chocolate Pudding is a great example of a tasty, fat-filled treat. I have dozens of other recipes that are healthy and satisfying in my Guiltless Nutrition Lifestyle and Recipe Bookthat will help get you on the right path. There are sections in there for cleaning out your cabinets, healthy swaps made simple, how to snack smarter, and how to satisfy your cravings. AKA a total must-have for your 2018 lifestyle makeover!

Channel the Scouts: Always Be Prepared

Carry "emergency" snacks with you, or have them easily accessible, for when those cravings inevitably hit. I shared 10 of my favorite healthy (and easy) snackshere, but as always, tons more where that came from in the Hot Body Meal Planand Guiltless Guide!

Sweat Not Sweets

It's going to happen. You're going to have a long day, full of stress and you're going to feel like "just one bite…". But before you give in, get into your workout gear and go crush a workout. Whether it's one of our weekly workouts(sign up here), your go-to fave from YouTube, or from the Hot Body Sweat Guide, get your sweat on before you get your sweet on! Trust me, you'll feel so much better and be able to make a better choice, instead of an impulsive, emotional binge.

The Only Detox is a Sugar Detox

As we spend time talking about detoxing, I want to make one thing very clear: theonlytype of detox I'm okay with is a sugar detox. No supplement, no Instagrammable-tea, no "magical" skinny chocolate bar (yeah… those are a thing). No, you don't need to "flush out your body". All you need is to eliminate the junk and add in HEALTHY foods.

By following these 5-simple post-holiday detox steps, you'll be ready to be the healthiest version of you in 2018! And I can't wait to watch you crush the New Year!
