My Favorite 3 Simple Ways to Stay Fit on Spring Break
It can be super hard to stay on track while you’re traveling, but I definitely have amazing ways to stay fit on spring break.
I just got back from a back to back trips. First stop was New York for a few days and then straight back to hit the desert for Coachella. Well sort of.
The last couple of years Ryan and I have gone out with a group of friends during weekend 1 of the festival, but we don’t actually go to the festival. We call it NoChella. We rent a house and tour around to all of the side events and parties. Way more my speed.
I 100% make EVERYONE in the house workout before poppin’ the champagne. It’s only three days, but even a few days off track can totally make me feel off my game.
Did you guys see the Bear Crawl Challenge I did with Kohl’s last month? I’m going to be partnering with them each month to share some of my best tips and tricks with you + all of their new fitness gear.
This month we’re talking Spring Break! It doesn’t matter if you’re hitting the Mango Deck in Cabo or staying home, when you’re on Spring Break, a switch flips. School/work mode turns off and vacay vibes start flowing.
Let those sun-loving days happen, but don’t let them make you totally lose sight of your goals. Pina Coladas sound awesome until you’re 10 deep and debating a bikini or parka for the pool.
Tip 1: Pack to Play
I’m a big online shopper – especially before spring break and definitely before NoChella. I hate running around to a million stores, trying things on, waiting in lines, etc. Uh… it’s terrible. Online is my go-to for sure! It’s awesome to be able to get it all in one spot. Convenience is key.
So packing…Definitely pack athletic shoes – think tropical waterfall hiking- or hiking to the Sahara Tent…same diff.
Throw in a sports bra, tank and some leggings and you’re good to go. Kohl’s has SO many different brands – you can seriously get everything you need.
Here’s what I pack for a week long vacay:
- 2 pairs of shorts or other bottoms
- 2 tank tops
- 1 good sports bra. I’ll rinse and hang to dry to keep it easy.
Once the gear is packed there’s no going back. You might as well use it!
Tip 2: Small, but Mighty
You absolutely do NOT need a gym to get in a good sweat sesh on vacay! I have my LSF Hot Body Sweat Guide on my phone and I always pack resistance bands to help me stay fit on spring break. They’re small and weigh basically nothing so they’re easy to bring with you, but will take your workouts to the next level.
My Favorite Band Exercises:
- Donkey Kick Backs
- Hip Bridge Lifts
- Bicep Curls
- Plank Single Arm Rows
- Fire Hydrants
Kohl’s has tons of different types of bands with different resistance levels. My go-to bands are the loop ones. They take up the least amount of space and you can do way more!
I also ALWAYS take the stairs! You’d be surprised how many extra calories you burn just ditching the elevator once in a while.
Tip 3: Crunches Before ____________ (fill in the blank- cocktails, chips, cookies, etc)
You’ve got to start your day with a workout. It sets you on a healthy path so you can make better decisions all day.
I’m not a big sweets person, but vacation cocktails and tortilla chips are my weakness. I’ve learned to stick to clear drinks like a tequila or vodka with soda water (no added sugars or junk in them) and portion out chips. That way I can enjoy them without eating 3 baskets –it’s happened.
My Go-To Adult Drink:
Silver Tequila & Soda Water with fresh mint muddled and lots of lime juice
Yes, you’re on spring break, but don’t let that be an excuse to drink sugary drinks and eat junk food all day, every day. You CAN stay fit on Spring Break!
Pick and chose where you want to splurge – when it’s REALLY worth it- so you don’t over do it.
The last thing you want is to work hard for that bikini bod and come home feeling bloated and blah. If you prep right, you can absolutely have fun, indulge a little and still feel great when reality sets in! Checkout some of my favorite spring active/wellness finds at Kohl’s below.
