Healthy, Happy You (And How To Get There)

This Is Your Year- 5 Tips for a Healthier You this year

As we wrap up the first week of the New Year, I know you girls are still crushing your goals for 2018 (I mean, have you seen #teamlsf on Instagram!?) but as the year continues, we all know how easy it is to fall short of the resolutions we’ve set. Never fear! I’m here to help.

I’m here with 5 failsafe ways to have a healthier, happier you this year (because you so deserve it)!

The LSF Lifestyle Makeover Plan is Your Roadmap

Workout Guide Meal Plan

Right now is the perfect time to jumpstart your body and mind to set yourself up for success with 2018 as the best year ever. The best way I know how to do that is with the LSF Lifestyle Makeover Plan. (Seriously, I tried everythingggggg. Nothing worked. Until this.)

This time of year, everyone focuses on eating clean and working out — which I am all about — but the reason so many people fall short of their goals is they set them, but don’t change their life around to support those goals. Without making true lifestyle changes, you’re setting yourself up to fail! And we don’t want that, girl! So listen up. These 5 tips will help you rock your resolutions in 2018! (I’ve written posts about setting goals and resolutions so if you’re just coming out of the holiday fog and ready to rock the New Year, it’s not too late!)

1. Clean Out Your Physical Space

Seriously. Take a few minutes, a few hours, whatever it takes, and clean out your space. There’s science behind what a clean space does for your mental health, plus if you’ve set health goals, you don’t want to sabotage yourself by leaving junk food around. So set aside some time, turn on some music, and make it fun! Clean out that closet, your office, your dorm room, or pantry. Put away the holiday decorations. Or be ambitious and tackle the whole house! Whatever it takes. Get it done and I promise you’ll feel refreshed, renewed, and restored.

2. Clean Out Your Mental Space

Same decluttering principles apply to your mental space as your physical space. Set some time aside to reflect, clear your head, and get rid of the things that aren’t serving you. Throw away that negative self-talk you’ve held onto all these years. it’s only holding you back. Sit down and really reflect. Have a conversation with yourself and discover what mental clutter you’ve been holding onto and release it.

A great way of doing this for me personally is through yoga. And this one below is one of my faves. Release all that negative energy in your brain with a little help from your body, and you’ll be unstoppable!

 3. Have a Plan!

Setting goals without a clear plan to get you there is asking for trouble. Something like 92% of New Year’s resolutions fail! Wanna know why? Because people set goals without a plan or making any real changes. No bueno.

Decide what your vision looks like for a healthier, happier you in 2018. What does that mean to you? How will you get there? Sit down and write it out. By spending time writing it out, not only are you more likely to achieve those goals, but also you have to confront if you really have a plan or not. If you can’t explain how you’re going to get there, chances are, you’re not going to get there.

Whatever your goals are: a new job, getting accepted into your college of choice, doing 15 push-ups, cutting sugar or anything else, you’ve got to have a plan. The LSF Lifestyle Makeover Plan is going to be your friend here, so be sure to grab it to set yourself up for success in 2018.

Get More Sleep 😴

I mean, duh. Sleep is amazzzzzzing. But sometimes it’s counterintuitive to find time for more sleep when you’ve just added yet another thing to your to do list. But trust me. Sleep is going to help you get to your goals.

Not only is sleep going to help you see those fitness goals you’ve been working on, but sleep is also crucial in helping you mentally be your best. A well rested person is much more likely to be able to tackle their goals, say no to temptations, and treat themselves right. So, resist the temptation to skimp out on the zzz’s and you’ll find yourself healthier and happier, and ready to CRUSH your 2018 goals each and every day.

Find Your Happy

Focus on you. You deserve it. Find time in your oh-so-busy-schedule to do at least one thing that makes you seriously happy each and every week.It doesn’t have to be related to your goals. It doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else… and honestly, you don’t need to explain yourself to anyone — don’t forget that!  Just find your happy and follow it. Do that thing that makes you feel unapologetically freaking awesome. And when you do, you’ll find you have so much more zest for life. Recharge your own batteries so you have more to give, to others, your goals, and ultimately back to yourself.

Recipe For Success

There you have it! My 5 step recipe for success for setting yourself up to rock those resolutions. Bonus tip number six: community. This community we have here at LSF is what I am most proud of. You girls are amazing and there’s nothing you can’t do. Scratch that, there’s nothing we can’t do — especially together. Lean on your community, reach out to other LSF babes on Instagram, meet up for in-person workouts or green juice, or whatever. With this community, and these five steps, I know for certain you’re going to rock your resolutions.

You’ve Got This. You Deserve This. 🙌

This is so freaking important. Don’t forget what I’m about to tell you. You are worth it. You deserve this. And you WILL achieve this. I believe in you, so even on days when it’s really hard, remember, #teamlsf and I are cheering for you. Don’t forget to always #LiveGuiltless, girl. You’ve got this.

xoxo katie

Sleep is hard for me…I never go to bed before midnight and I get up at 5:30. If I do try to go to bed earlier, I just lay there with my brain going 90 MPH. I like to stay up to get my “me” time. I work 8:00 to 5:00 and go to the gym Monday, Thursday and Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 and Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30. I go home, grab something to eat, get a bath/shower and it is now 8:00/9:00. I still have laundry or other chores to do. I just want a couple of… Read more »

Rebecca, if sleep is really affecting your everyday life, you may want to think about changing your work schedule. If you can’t do that but you have your weekends off, you can try and see if you can push your “me time” to Saturday and/or Sunday. Then, you can have all day to yourself. I hope this helps!
