How To Reduce Cellulite

how to reduce cellulite? So frustrating, right???

I have always struggled with how to reduce cellulite around my hip area, and it bugs me SO much that it's 1) genetic and 2) pretty impossible to get rid of. Sometimes when I'd be doing really well with my health goals, I'd see a pic of my legs and get so discouraged I'd give up! It can really feel like it's holding you back.

So that's the bad news. Phew! Got that out of the way early. The GOOD news is that cellulite might never totally *go away* but there are a lot of ways to reduce it. And if that sounds like a weak consolation prize, hear me out! I used to agonize over it, and I honestly don't think about it much anymore. Because it's pretty much gone away and I don't really notice it!

Also important to say: cellulite does NOT mean you are fat, out of shape, or ugly. It is purely connective tissue with ANY amount of fat underneath it. So you can be an extremely lean person and still have cellulite. And it's always important to remember that literally no one on earth thinks about your insecurities as much as YOU do.

So without further ado, here are my top tips for reducing cellulite:

Find an exercise routine that builds muscle

Muscle burns calories all day long, just by existing. The more muscle you have, the more fat your body can burn. Plus, blood flow plays a big role in the appearance of cellulite…so you want to make sure your problem spots are getting as much as possible! Exercise increases blood flow to the areas you're working. So while you can't spot reduce fat or cellulite, you can build muscle and increase blood flow, both of which will really help (especially over time!). This video does both?

Foam rolling

Again, as I mentioned, increased blood flow will make cellulite less noticeable. If you get some muscle pump going, the fat won't be able to poke through and that signature cottage cheese look doesn't happen. Foam rolling is your best friend! I put all my tips and tricks in this post, and I seriously go back to it all the time. It's a game changer.

And since foam rolling loosens up your muscle fascia (connective tissue between muscle fibers), it can "iron out" skin texture! Sounds too good to be true, but it is. When the fascia are loosened up, cellulite won't be as much of a problem. This has been SO effective for me.

Hydrate

Hydration is obviously key, but it's also related to increased blood flow. When you are hydrated, your blood vessels will puff up therefore allowing more blood to get to your muscle fibers and reducing cellulite. More hydration perks in this blog postI put up a little bit ago. So worth it.

Those are my top three tips! Again, even though cellulite feels dire when you're dealing with it, it really REALLY is not. No matter what, don't let some small "flaw" keep you from feeling cute, confident, and happy. Live your life!!
