how to get rid of knots. Let's be honest. While the holidays are one of the most magical times of the year, they're also one of the most stressful.
Our social calendars start filling up at Thanksgiving and don't really let up until the new year. Add the pressure of buying good holiday gifts and the temptation of delicious but not-nutritious food everywhere, and it can be a perfect storm. The good news? There are some things we can do to minimize the stress of this season so we can enjoy all the beautiful, fun parts! To help, I've rounded up five of my top holiday self-care tips. Check them out!
Soothe soreness and stress with BewellConnect MyTens
There's nothing I love more for combatting stress than a quality sweat session. It gets the endorphins pumping in my brain, helping me fend off the winter blues and keeping me jolly! But it's a bummer to feel sore and tired after your workout. That's why I'm obsessed with my BewellConnect MyTens device. This handy little wire-free TENS and EMS device connects to my phone via Bluetooth and allows me to be in control. I can select treatments for pain relief, muscle relaxation (aka: a mid-day massage) and even muscle stimulation and fitness when I'm wanting a little extra muscle strengthening. I use it for smart, at-home self-care from the comfort of my own couch. It stimulates my achy and tired muscles and helps me relieve stress tension. Plus, it's discreet enough that I can wear it pretty much anytime I'm feeling like I need a little pain relief!
And because it's stimulating my muscles as it relieves them, I'm even getting in a little extra strengthening without any extra work of my own. It's like a holiday present to myself! Which reminds me! BewellConnect is offering an exclusive discount to the LSF family of 25% off MyTens this holiday season with code LSF25.
Marathon some movies
'Tis the season for great, cheesy holiday movies. Feeling frazzled? Put on your comfiest winter PJs, grab a cozy blanket, and plop down on the couch for some quality time with yourself and some of the greatest love stories ever told. If you're wondering what to watch, I love the classics like Love Actually and The Holiday. The Grinch doesn't have all the sappy romance, but it's still a story about love, so why not toss it in for good measure! Or, if you've got a Netflix account and are looking for something fresh, A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch (we see you, Vanessa Hudgens!) are perfect for your holiday hangout with yourself.
Feel your face
Do you ever wish it was easier to massage your own shoulders? I do! But instead of straining my elbow trying to get to the knots on my back, I've been taking a different – but equally effective – stress-management approach. I've been massaging my face! I put a few drops of frankincense essential oil and a drop of nutmeg in some coconut oil. Rubbing this into my face promotes circulation in my skin, helping it glow. Plus, frankincense has anti-depressant qualities and is a natural but low-key sedative. I've noticed that it helps me release clenched jaw muscles, a signature of my seasonal stress. Plus, it smells like the holidays and gets me in the Christmas spirit!
The holiday hop
It's time to dance, people! This is the most festive time of year, after all. A little cardio is always amazing for banishing stress, but I don't always feel like lacing up my sneakers. So, instead, I'll put on my fave upbeat Christmas music and dance around. I may even through a little singing into the mix (don't judge!). In ten minutes, *poof!* my stress is gone!
Perfect that we have this Dance Cardio vid up, right?? It's easy and super fun. Great little energy boost.
