I’ve been extremely fortunate to not be personally effect by breast cancer. Not yet at least. But one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and I want to save the boobies! Big or small, real or “fake”: boobs are boobs and we can all be impacted by cancer.
This month, Team LSF is joining in on the fight to stop cancer with an exclusive new item. We’re bring back the Pink Love Sweat Fitness Hat for a limited time in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Additionally, we will be donating 20% of all proceeds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. NBCF’s mission is to help women now by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.
And, since we’re already doing good by our community by spreading awareness, I’m thinking why not keep that positive vibe train rolling? If you’re like me and you’ve been looking for a way to keep your smile all fall long, I’ve got good news. I have a tried-and-true way to keep yourself happy and stress-free.
When giving back gives back to you.
Okay, that might be kind of confusing. How would giving back give back to you? Aren’t you supposed to be the one giving? Well aaactually, it turns out that doing something good for others actually helps us feel good about ourselves. I mean, think about it. Don’t you feel like you glow a little after you perform a random act of kindness? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, try it. Do a few nice things for others tomorrow and see how that makes you feel. Isn’t that cool?
Part of the reason giving back helps me feel good is that it makes me feel purposeful. If you’re ever feeling down in the dumps about your life, getting out there and making a difference for someone else is a surefire way to boost yourself up.
The science behind why doing good is good for you.
This isn’t all just glitter and rainbows and feel-good nonsense, I swear. When you do something for someone else, it actually opens up your brain’s mesolimbic pathway. That makes you feel fulfilled and accomplished. Your brain also releases the chemicals that literally make you happy, like dopamine. And studies have shown that people who give back on a regular basis have less anxiety, less depression, lower blood pressure, and fewer heart and brain problems. They even live longer!
So what are you waiting for? If you want a scientifically proven way to feel good, start doing good!
So grab your cute hats and help save the boobies!
