ABC’s of Meal Prep
No matter where you’re starting from, meal prepping can be made simple, delicious and fit into anyone’s busy lifestyle. Here are my ABC’s to get you goin!
A- Always start with your least favorite meal
Hate making dinner at the end of a long day? Always pick up lunch because you don’t know what to make or bring? This is where you start! Figure out which meal you have the hardest time keeping on track with, and make it a point to prep healthy delicious options ahead of time. (Hint: sticking with my next tip, is going to be KEY for these meals in particular)
B- Beware of basic meals.
Life is too short to eat boring food! If you don’t like what you’re meal prepping, you won’t stick with it. There are SO many amazing recipes out there that can be healthy, delicious swaps for your go to’s. I’m talking pizza, tacos and burgers friends!
If you do happen to go out, that’s totally ok! My advice? Ditch the extra tortilla chips, order thin crust and load up on veggies, or get gilled chicken breast and your favorite sauce on the side. These small swaps will make a big difference!
C – Cooking doesn’t have to be complicated.
If you can block out about an hour, you can easily meal prep for the week. Cook your protein, carbs and veggies all at once, but season them in different ways to help give variety.
For example: Bake 6 chicken breasts in one pan, but season 2 of them with lemon and rosemary, 2 with a smoky bbq and 2 with your favorite taco seasoning. This helps keep the work to a minimum while still giving you tons of variety so you don’t get bored throughout the week.
