fitness trends. I know, I know. 2018 isn't over just yet. But I've got a feeling that if we all blink, it'll be time to ring in the new year.
So I didn't want to miss my chance to round up some of my favorite workout and health trends from 2018. These are a handful of things that have helped me bring my A-Game every time I'm ready to get moving – and have actually made memoreexcited to work out! Plus, this year really showed us how it's done, fitness-wise. It's brought a lot of good changes to the sweat session/self-care table which I know is helping us all find a lot more balance.. So without further ado, here are five of my favorite fitness trends from 2018.
Efficient, effective workout studios.
I don't know about you, but I feel like I get busier and busier year after year. With less time in the day, squeezing in a workout that packs a punch can get tricky. That's why literally every single workout in the HBSGtakes under 30 minutes! I also started kickboxing more this year to mix up my cardio days and am loving 9Round, which offers kickbox fitness sessions. First, you can pop into the studio ANY TIME.

There are no set classes so you can join into sessions and go through your nine rounds whenever it works for you. Plus, there is always a trainer on site to tell you exactly what the exercises are at each station for that day, assist with technique, help with hand-wrapping, and keeping you motivated. Like,burn-400-cals-in-30-minutesmotivated. The music is pumping and the workouts only take 30 minutes which is basically everything I want in a workout Plus your first class is free!
I'm not a competitive person when it comes to competing with other people, but OMG I love giving myself little challenges. In the 9Round sessions I wear a heart rate monitor that's hooked up to a screen so I can see where my heart rate is throughout the workout and how many calories I'm burning. To burn the most fat, the goal is to stay in the green or yellow zones the whole time and I watch that sucker like nobody's business. If I even dip into the blue zone, I start stepping up my pace hah. I literally burn like 400 calories in 30 minutes and work every muscle in my body. Plus punching a bag for sure sheds some stress! Seriously, what more could you want?
Matching workout sets.
Do you guys remember when workout clothes were basically grubby rejects from the oversized clothing bin? Thank goodness we've made some progress! Yoga pants helped us break through the fashion barrier and now the possibilities are endless.
In 2018, I've been loving matching bra/crop top and legging sets like the ones from Outdoor Voicesor Mumu. It makes getting dressed for your workout super simple and fun. And because I want to put on these cute sets, I'm that much more likely to get moving!
Amazing adaptogens.
Ashwagandha. Cordyceps. Rhodiola. No, I'm not just making up my own language. I'm talking about some seriously powerful natural resources that can help our bodies operate at their peak! An adaptogen is something that grows from the earth (like a plant or mushroom) that helps your body fight off stress and feel balanced. They're not scary, either. If you've ever had anything with ginseng in it, you've already introduced your body to adaptogens.
And, boy, am I glad they're having a moment. It seems like everyone's stress levels are through the roof these days. It's really amazing that the earth is providing us with natural tools to fight back and help our bodies stay balanced!
You've probably seen our recent cordyceps PSL(SO. GOOD.) but we also made this amazing destressing Moon Milk recipewith Ashwagandha. Two awesome options if you're trying to help your body manage stress.
Anytime, anywhere yoga.
Yes, yoga has been aroundwaybefore 2018 (like, thousands of years before). But it used to be sort of inaccessible. Unless you wanted to pay a lot of money to join a fancy yoga studio, you were stuck trying to figure out a flow on your own.I'm a huge believer in yoga as a great way to get in tune with your body and start yourself on a long-term fitness journeythat you'll really enjoy. I'm so stoked to see how much more available yoga has become in 2018.
I love putting up yoga flow videos, too, so make sure you're following @LoveSweatFitness on YouTube! Here are some of my fave videos.
Essential oils to treat yourself.
Workout hard, recover hard. Whether you push your body through a high-intensity, highly rewarding HSBG or 9Round workout or do some major stretching in a chill yoga class, you deserve to treat yourself. But I don't mean with junk food or impulse purchases!
Essential oils are an awesome way to make yourself feel great mentally and physically. I love using peppermint essential oil on sore muscles or dropping some lavender into a relaxing recovery bath. And, hey, you don't have to feel as guilty about your cocktail habit when you throw some of these bad boys in there. In fact, I've got some essential oil cocktail recipesalready whipped up for you.
Even though 2018 is still wrapping up, it's been anawesomeyear so far! I've loved exploring the latest fitness trends with you ladies and I can't wait to see what 2019 brings our way!!
