At home recovery bath. Two Weeks of Spring Slimdown (almost) DOWN. Whoa.
The energy is over-the-top amazing, and you are keeping it so real with your #LSFRollCall and your accountability partners! You've gotten to this point and you deserve so much credit and love for that. Aka you deserve to Treat Yo'Self!
My idea of treating myself used to be a biggggggg cupcake from Sprinkles (no hate, Sprinkles, you're still my cheat day MVP). Food is used as a reward so much when we're little kids, that we get stuck thinking a sweet treat or some greasy french fries is the way to #selfcare.
There are SO many other ways to show yourself some love (I mean, remember the Lots of Love challenge?? It was a whole 2 months ago ?), and today…the must luxe recovery bath EV.ER. Plan some time this weekend to get a little creative with your bath "toppings" and just bask in your amazingness. And the key ingredient: MILK!
Got Milk?
Um…Katie…you always talk about avoiding dairy!
Ok, yes, correct…for your diet. But for your skin, milk brings some major moisturizing to the table. Plus, very pretty (clearly). It just feels so fancy. I have been told this was one of Cleopatra's beauty secrets, and if it's good enough for Cleopatra, it's good enough for Team LSF.
In combo with epsom salts, which I've talked about before, your skin will be feeling amazing and your muscles will be feeling rejuvenated and ready to get after week 3 of SSD. The full regimen is below…don't forget to put your own personal spin on it and tag me in your pics!!!
Glam Recovery Bath
Key supplies:
- Whole milk! Personally, I pour a whole gallon in there. Gimme all the benefits plz.
- Epsom salts. About a half a cup. They draw out toxins and put in some major Magnesium (crucial for muscle recovery! Helps big time with soreness). More info in this post…
- Essential oils. Follow your vibe. Need to relax? Lavender. Need to energize? Orange. So many good ones out there. I'm a bigtime essential oils fan. I even did a whole post on oils to reduce anxiety!
"Toppings"! aka…the fun part.
I just popped out to my garden (read: Trader Joe's) and picked a bunch of beautiful wildflowers (read: a cheap bouquet with lots of pretty flowers). Whatever floats your boat. Other fun ideas…
- LSF Bath Bombs
- Dried flower petals
- Greenery
- Citrus slices (we used grapefruit)
- Cucumber slices (mostly for show if we're being real)
- Herbs (rosemary! mint! basil!)
- Tea bags (doesn't a chai bath sound kind of amaze?)
If you're like "Katie, where do I find time for this?" I get it. But. Your skin is such an efficient way of taking in vitamins and minerals (all those pores that go basically straight to your blood stream!), so you need to give it some love. Plus, isn't it kind of amazing that baths force you to just SIT. Personally, give me 15 min of down time and I am on my phone, iPad, TV in the background, cleaning the counters, squeezing in some squats — basically multitasking like a psychopath. But during a good soak? You can bring a book in, maybe, but you are forced to just chill the eff out. So even if you're not totally convinced baths are for you, find a way to slow down and give yourself some love (that isn't food-centric!) for all your amazing hard work.
PLZ PLZ try a bath for yourself this weekend and tag me ( @lovesweatfitness+ @TeamLSF) in your pics! Recovery bath benefits are v real, but so is the major Instagram potential with these babies. Get a lil creative and get some good vibes, babe. You earned it like 1000%.
