Summer Goals. Every May I give myself new goals for summer. Little challenges that will help me have the best one yet!
This year I’m teaming up with Kohl’s to share the two things you need to do this summer and my top tips to help pick YOUR endless summer goals!
I’m not just talking about health and fitness goals, I mean ANYTHING that will help to truly make you happy. Goals that will allow you to enjoy your summer and feel totally fulfilled come August. Yes – these usually do have something to do with your health and wellness because, let’s be honest, when you are staying active and eating healthy you feel a million times better. More relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to take on all the craziness of fall.
Plus the better weather means endorphins are high and your possibilities are seriously endless.

So here are the two things you need to do this summer when setting your goals…
Goal #1
You need to pick ONE thing you LOVE to do, and plan to do more of it!
Life gets so busy. It’s easy to let our hobbies and “extras” get pushed aside, but summer is the time to put that to an end! The days are longer, the air is warmer and it’s time for you to have some fun!

So what do I love and want more of? Tennis! Ryan is SO good and I want to get on his level… or at least be able to keep up with him. We have the best time playing, but it definitely doesn’t happen enough (aka ever). Not to mention, adding a new exercise or sport into your routine has tons of fitness benefits. When you keep your body guessing or working new muscles, it responds in the best way…getting stronger!

My goal is to plan a tennis date for us once a week. We always have amazing brainstorming sessions on the courts and I love that he gets to share something he is passionate about with me. It starts with making it a priority and these tennis dates are officially on my calendar!

Goal #2
The second thing you need to do this summer is to find something NEW you want to try and make it happen!

While it can be intimidating to try new things, the happiness rush you get from them is unmatched. You may be missing out on something you love or are really good at…but unless you try, you will never know. Overcoming your fears, hesitations or insecurities gives you new motivation, not just for the thing you’re trying, but in all areas of life!
I grew up surfing almost every single day. In high school and college I slowly stopped. I had more important things to focus on like homework. Just kidding…mostly just boys and my 3 hours on the waves was really getting in the way hah.
Over the years I’ve talked about wanting to start back up, but I just keep forgetting and putting it off. Now it’s been nearly 6 years since I’ve been actively surfing, but it’s time for a change!

It may not technically be something “new” but in some ways it is. It’s been so long and I don’t know how the whole “it’s just like riding a bike” thing applies here. The point is, I want to challenge myself and paddling out again will do just that.
You guys know I almost exclusively shop online and I was pretty pumped that Kohl’s had everything I needed to make these goals happen! Buying my new outfits might just be the perfect reminder that I am committed to making these goals a habit!

If the things you decide you need to do this summer involve anything health and wellness, you for sure need to check out Kohl’s. Take a peek at my picks below too!
All right so those are mine. What will it be for you? I want you to take a minute and write down a BUNCH of things you’ve wanted to do more of and things you’ve always wanted to try. Pick one of each and make sure at least 1 of them is something that will also help you reach your #TeamLSF goals!
I want to know what you’re doing so we can all help keep you accountable. Take a pic, post it and tag #teamlsf. Can’t wait to check it out!
Start taking our two Australian Shepherds for a walk everyday. I use to swim in the YMCA pool. I am going to swim in the pool at least 3 times a week
To run at least four miles without stopping and checking my garmin at when time I’m at! #enjoytherun
One thing that I love doing is making crafts. I’m huge into diy, so I’m going to focus more on doing more crafts like making signs and wreaths. Plus it helps me make some money on the side lol. Something new that I want to try is to actually meet up with other local fitness groups and go to some workout activities with them. It will allow me to meet new people and try new fitness activities.
My goals for the summer and for my body is to see more muscle tone! Trying new activities to achieve this. Body pump class, swimming, surfing, love sweat fintness YouTube workouts! Katie is such an inspiration to not only women, but to everyone! I love the fact you post foods and recipes you make. You make me strive to be in the shape you are in!
Thank you ?
Tennis outside in the sun with one of my bestie once a week is a goal of mine! Love being outside and staying active. Also I love reading and getting lost in a good book and want to get back into reading at the beach this Summer! xoxo
Goal 1-Run MORE
Goal 2-Take up paddle boarding!
I LOVE hiking but hardly go considering i live in West Texas! But it would be such an unfulfilled summer without it! Weekend trips to the rockys are going to be a definite this year!
Something new would be zip lining! Iv always wanted to but never have. I have no good excuse as to why i havent so i need to!
We love you out here in CT! Thanks for all you do. You are motivating and inspiring, and always have a big smile! ☺️
These are some amazing tips!! Thanks for sharing ???
This is SUCH a great idea Katie! I often give my self one “long term” goal but never think to challenge myself by breaking it up every season or few months. I am super excited to incorporate this idea from here on out! Thank you 🙂 Will be brainstorming my first 2 for the summer season over the long weekend!!
You are adorable Katie and that suit looks perfect for surfing!!! I’ll have to check it out
I love this! I want to carry on my new years resolution of doing something I love which is photography! I want to get further into it and practice more often. Something new I’d like to try this summer is white water rafting! I live near some awesome rapids and have always wanted to try it. ❤️
Hey Katie!
I think it’s super cool you set goals in May- most people wait until the New Year and it doesn’t make sense to me to wait that long!!
One goal I have is to make my weekends count just like the weekdays! I tend to fall a little behind on workouts/healthy eating and I’d really like to hold myself to the same standards on the weekend as I do on the weekdays!
Xo-Savanna
This makes me super motivated to get a summer body, i have health issues which means ill never have a flat stomach and i cant eat normal foods but working out and setting goals gets me through it?
Amazing! ❤
Great post!! I need those white shoes in my life!
Love Team LSF so much!
1. I want to start doing more races! I love running but I feel that I always don’t do races because I have no one to do them with. My goal this summer is at least to do 2-3 races, even if I do them by myself. 2. Yoga. I want to start doing more of it. I use to go to class once a week but since school happened I stopped. My weekly schedule was super busy, and the cost is a little high. My goal is to do more yoga by myself or going to class at least… Read more »
First love that swimsuit! Sometimes you just need full coverage and family friendly suits I love it done in such a cute way!
Goal #1: read more though it may not be an active goal, I’ve been putting it aside for other things and it is something I love
Goal #2: is love to try Kick boxing as exercise or maybe a self defense class!
My goals for this summer are getting stronger and toning. I’ve also always wanted to try a pole dancing class as a way to boost my confidence so I’m excited for that
The surf suit is so cute!! ?
My first goal is to spend more time running/ riding bikes with my kids. My second goal is to finish a triathlon over the summer.
Goal 1: take more classes, I teach so much through the week that I’m not a student in barre and kickboxing classes very often, and I love them!!
Goal 2: “travel” in my city more. I’m from the Chicago land area and I don’t explore very often. I want to spend a few weekends looking around and finding new places I love!
Love these! My two goals are to be more comfortable in my own skin, so work on myself and beinnhappy with who I am so I can be comfortable anywhere! My second goal is to get outside more! I love horseback ridding and lately I haven’t done enough of it! So I plan to ride at least once a week, it’s a good excersice, fun time and give a good dose of Vitamin D! What a great idea Katie! Two goals are easy to accomplish but not too little that you can’t continue to do and work on that you… Read more »
These are awesome! I already have my 2 goals, 1. Something I love and need/want to do more of hiking and yoga ( I know that’s 2 things but I love them both so much). 2. Something new, I truly want to learn how to paddle board and I am going to make that happen this summer! Thanks so much for the motivation, love reading your blogs!
Love this! I am trying to get into different fitness classes. I already love spinning but am trying to branch out into other classes and get out of my comfort zone! I would love to get back into tennis since moving from Chicago to Atlanta where I actually could play outside year round!
xx
The Sarcastic Blonde
I want to take more hot yoga and Complete my lsf meal plan throughout the summer.
I want to start hiking more and try yoga!!
Hey Katie! I’ve completely turned my life around! I’ve gone from eating nothing but fast food and not being active to eating clean (with some great healthy recipes from you to kick my cravings when they come) and not only working out daily but enjoying it! I love using your at home workouts to get my sweat on but I’ve set a goal with my fiance to go on a hike and be adventurous at least once a week! We’ve hiked a few trails already and are having the time of our lives. Thank you for your motivation and energy,… Read more »
This summer I’m gonna write a book! And….take my hardworking hubby on a fun trip. We haven’t had once since our honeymoon
1. One thing I love and plan to do more of this summer is swimming. I got into swimming almost 3 years ago and have loved it ever since. My goal is to not only keep up with your challenges but to follow a swimming program and complete all of those goals within the program! I also want to swim a 50m in under 0:35 seconds and a 100m in under 1:10 this summer. 2. One thing I am new to and want to begin doing this summer is mountain biking!! It always seems so fun and it most likely… Read more »
With my first baby due any day now, I look forward to finding a balance between juggling becoming a new mommy and getting my body back in shape. I want to start a Barre routine and I would love to start playing tennis my hubby too! He played in college and it would be a great way for us to stay in shape and spend quality time together!
2 things I want to do is:
1) Make more YouTube videos
2)Work on my anxiety.
I want to hike more this summer! I love being outside and in nature. To add on to this goal I want to be confident to hike in a crop top. I’m stepping up my lsf workout to achieve this goal.
My other goal isn’t as fun but soooo necessary. I want to read more and do more research to finish my dissertation ?
My first goal for the summer is to spend more time on myself. I’m still in college and on the pre-med track so life basically becomes a washing machine of constant studying. Through this past semester after being diagnosed with GAD I really want to do more of journaling and blogging in order to help me recover. I really want to focus on listening to my body. My second goal is to really put myself out there. Be vulnerable. Show my true self that’s not hiding behind anxiety. This goal will be aligned with gaining the courage to share it… Read more »
I would love to be more active with my husband to spend time together. For example, I’d love to go running with my husband more. When it comes to exercise, we typically end up doing everything separate from each other. One new thing I want to do is run a half marathon. The farthest race I’ve ran is 10 miles and that was years ago. I’d like to train this summer to meet my goal. Maybe next year my goal will to go the full marathon!
I love to play tennis but during the summer I already play 2-4 times a week so not sure I could add more days of that. But I think something that I would like to do more of is reading before bed and actually get more sleep which should also help with weight loss. I currently go to a spin studio that also offers kickboxing, yoga and cross burn (which I don’t even know what that consists of). So I’d like to take some of those classes that I’ve never tried.
Continue to work towards strong as I work on my wedding body (getting married in aruba in august). We are doing a pirate ship rehearsal party snorkeling excursion and I really want to have fun pictures and videos from the rope swing without feeling self conscious about how my body looks. Also, I want to do more hiking/outdoor workouts because I gain a lot of energy from being in nature and most of my workouts right now are inside at the gym.
I love running. After a plague of injury, surgery, and weight gain, I’ve decided it’s time to return to the activity I love most. Running was my escape, my release, and I can’t wait to spend more time doing it. Also this summer, I really want to try stand up paddle boarding. I think it’s an awesome activity that works the body and can lead to much more exploration of our favorite state park.
My goal is to ride my bike more this summer! I love riding to the beach and relaxing. I also want to try making new friends in the fitness community. I want to have meaningful connections with like-minded people.
Cross train a few times a week with fun summery activities like swimming at the beach, volleyball in the sand and bike rides around town. My big new goal is to run my first ever half run in September!! Eek!
Goal 1. Explore new area’s where I live. Finding cute little coffee shops or wandering around a cute town.
Goal 2. Hike more. I love hiking and I haven’t gone in a long time. I’ve been looking at different places to go with my husband when he gets a day off.
To do one sprint triathlon per month this summer, and then finish with an Olympic size triathlon.
Something new I want to try- mountain biking!!!! I am so excited to try out a new summer sport, especially since I just moved to the mountains 🙂
To get into better shape, and start loving myself more! No my hating my body.
To start getting into better shape and being confident in myself!
First: A year ago I was in a car accident which left me with no activity but walking. Being a person who lived to run I was extremely discouraged. I used that word “walk” as a curse word. My goal is to embrace that word and walk as much as possible. I need to be thankful that I have legs that move and feet that work. Second: I want to try journaling to release the good and bad.
Lol at the part regarding you slowly stopping surfing in high school and college ????? Don’t you ever find surfing scary? Or didn’t you?
Hi Katie your such an inspiration I love everything you stand for
I really want to start swimming again. I swam all the time as kid (competitively) and was swimming a bit last year, but I’d really like to hit the pool at least once a week.
The new thing I want to do is Hot Yoga! I’ve done yoga off and on (both classes and at home), but have always shied away from bikram. It would definitely be a new challenge that I could either love or hate.
Fitness goal: want to be able to do handstands and pull-up. Last week i did my first solo handstand against a door! 🙂
Happy goal: spend more time with my lovely friends and family + schedule more ‘me’ time to do mini spa treatements like a face/hair mask en just relax.
