3 Ways To Get Fit This Fall

Fall in Love with Your Body & Get Fit this Fall

In Cali, when it dips below 72 degrees we grab our sweaters and boots. Ridiculous yes, but we refuse to be left out of experiencing fall!

All I want to do is cook, cuddle and decorate! Eeek I LOVE this time of year! — minus the whole getting dark at 5pm…. I can't get behind it.

With shorter, cooler days, it's hard not to want to skip workouts, get your boozing and baking on and dive into a black hole for the holidays. Throwing caution to the wind and figuring you'll make it up in January. Not this year girlfriend.

I want you to be able to enjoy the holidays. Not just for the momentary satisfaction of those brownies, but like…REALLYenjoy them into the new year 100% stress (and guilt!) free.

Staying on track is easy if you have a plan. I have 3 easy ways I stay fit every fall and still enjoy myself. If you read my How I Lost Weight on Vacationblog, you know I've got you on this one! I went, indulged and still managed to actuallylose weightso you know we can get through the holidays together.

1. Snack Smart

You'll inevitably indulge more than normal, but "the holidays" are like 3-5 actualdays… Not 3 months!

Always, always, ALWAYS have healthy snacks on hand. With all that sugar around, it's near impossible to avoid random cravings. Believe me … you NEVER want to be hangry during the holidays. It almost always leads to snacking decisions you regret. You can also help set yourself up for success be detoxing sugarout of your system now, before your too deep into fall.

The goal is to get some healthy fats and proteins in your system to eliminate the urge to each an entire cookie plater.

On the Go:

I have nuts in my purse and car at all times! I feel like the "mom" in my group of friends because I always have emergency snacks. Orchard Valley Harvestjust sent me their new Antioxidant and Omega-3 Wellness Mixes and they're delish!

The Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) Omega 3 in this mix one of the most incredible Omegas It can help regulate blood sugar levels (bye bye cravings!) and reduce weight!

Time is limited during the holidays so if it's not easy, you're less likely to do it. The mixes come in individual portions which makes it WAY easy! I used to make my own nut mixes, but it definitely takes time to portion it out so you don't overdo it. Too much of a good thing isn't a good thing ya know?

My fave is the Omega-3 Mix. It's a blend of walnuts, dried cranberries and blueberries, almonds and pistachios. Basically all the things I love.

PS: you can get them at most any store like Walmart, Albertsons, and Safeway.

At a Party:

If your bringing snacks to a party, same rules apply. Find simple, healthier options of your favorites. I have so many recipes for healthy desserts, you can't go wrong! At the end of the day I guarantee everyone else will be happy you brought something a bit healthier too! They're all looking for ways to get fit this fall, and you just made it that much easier!

If you want to maintain, or even lose, weight during the holidays you have to snack smart. Stick to your normal clean eating 90% of the time and when you are going to indulge,MAKE IT COUNT!

2. Make an Appointment with Yourself

Not only will working out help keep you in shape, it will also help keep you sane! This time of year can be extremely stressful. Between holiday parties, traveling and time with friends and family, it's hard to find the time for YOU! Hard, but not impossible.

You need to treat your workouts as if you were making an appointment with your doctor who charges you cancellation fee.Your fee?Stress, tiredness, guilt and overall dissatisfaction. Not so fun right?

Schedule it and make it happen!Take a hike with friends, go for a run, or do your favorite LSF workouts and post a #sweatyselfie to encourage everyone to get moving!

3. Up Your Cardio Game

My normal schedule looks like this. I have a great balance between strength and cardio days, but when the holidays roll around I take my cardio up a notch.

Even if you're careful, you'll likely be consuming more sugar than normal. Sugar does nothing for your body and most of it is just stored as excess fat. No bueno!

Increasing your cardio will help burn more calories faster and in turn burn more fat. Add a few miles your walks or runs, or throwing in an extra 20min Hot Body HIIT workout. Even just a few extra minutes each week will make a BIG difference!

If you plan ahead, I know you can enjoy the holidays without stressing about your weight. You'll feel confident knowing you're still working toward your fitness goals. You'll be able to indulge a bit here or there without feeling guilty about it or worries that you're getting off track. And you'll be able to start off 2017 focusing on goals for yourself, your family and your career, instead of your waistline
